Hi my name is Nathan I am the manager, coach, organiser, for the Victoria Colts under 7’s.  I have currently my level 1 coaching badge and also level 1 in disabled coaching and I am hoping to complete my level 2 in the next 12 months.

I have been coaching for the last 5 years and I have has some great times and difficult times but without the support of the unsung heroes we wouldn’t be where we are today.
The last 14 months for me has so far been my best time in coaching. I still at times feel like the pied piper of Rock Ferry but I wouldn’t have it any way.

We have at present a total of 34 budding footballers on a Wednesday and Saturday. Each child with their own character, the winning is not important at this age, but how we participate that counts. Football should be fun at this age, but I feel that as parents we sometimes forget that, and try to push them a little harder. We should just let them get on with it, let them learn by their own mistakes, because that is how we did it.

I have at present 4 teams, 2 in the Wallasey mini soccer League and 2 in The Wirral mini soccer league. Without the help of the following parents, helpers all this would not have been possible. So I would like to say a big thank you to Keith (who is the ultimate unsung hero), Mark, Peter, Martin, Chris, Billy, Debbie, Claire, and Gaynor.

After most of August relaxing on a well earned break, and letting the parents and children recharged there batteries, training was again upon us. The children are working hard, mind you so are the coaches. After the random chocolate test it was found that 30 children were positive, and had all eaten too much.

The season is finally upon us and the weekends will never be the same again. We do not play for points or prizes and we are not in any competitive leagues, so why do we do it? The most important thing is to have fun learning how to play the game and getting to know each other (that includes parents as well). We can all criticise as parents on how we think that game has gone and what went wrong. It is more important to be positive at what they have achieved on a training session or match day, only look for the good things, never criticise the bad. We as parents have had our day now it is our children’s turn.
